The history of search engine optimization dates back to as old as 1990s. The first to provide optimizing sites for the search engines are the webmasters and content providers. The technique behind SEO is that when the content providers submit the URL or a page to various sites, those sites would send spider which is known as web crawler to crawl that particular page. These spiders return some information which can be indexed. By extracting links to other pages these indexing are made possible. The search engine optimizer would program it in such a way that the page is downloaded and saved in the server. When indexing is done by analyzing the key words it is possible to place the page into a scheduler. This enables it to be available for crawling later. The term search engine optimisation came in to existence in 1997 as per the analysis of Danny Sullivan. Before that there were terms like Meta tag used. It is just a representation of the original page itself in an inaccurate form. There are ranking provided which is very helpful in sending the results for a search engine optimizer. Google is a wonderful search engine optimizer which is approved too.
